About

The Platte County School District Percussion Program, PC Percussion, has a long tradition of musical excellence in the state of Missouri. The program encompasses all facets of percussion, and strives to help students develop and share a passion for music and percussion!

The Pirate Pride and Traditions Drumlines have received numerous honors and awards, including Outsanding Percussion awards at marching competitions from across the region. The group is regularly invited to perform for community functions. Most recently, they were showcased at both the Missouri Student Council Convention and the Northland Regional Chamber Excellence in Education Banquet.

Concert ensembles within the program have seen great success as well. The large Percussion Ensemble has received Superior ratings at MSHSAA State Festival each year since it's inception in 2009. It regularly performs advanced percussion literature and arrangements of standard orchestral, choral, and band works. The group was recently invited to perform at the Graceland University Percussion Day, and received critique and praise from many top names in the percussion community.

Student members have received many honors as well. Countless individuals have been placed in district and state level ensembles, and regularly receive superior ratings for their solo performances each spring. Students are consistently praised for their high levels of expression and musical maturity.

Each spring students combine all of their above-mentioned talents with percussion students from across the district to present drum! A Platte County Percussion Showcase. This concert features a variety of crowd-pleasing percussion pieces and pop arrangements. It gives each student a chance to use their talents to entertain and inspire their audience, and share their passion for percussion.
